I’d heard lots of good things about Kelly Siskind’s My Perfect Mistake on social media which led to me giving this new-to-me author a try. Once again, thank goodness for Twitter and Instagram, which some days seem to be a more accurate review system than, well, reviews.
I fell in love with Kolton and Shay almost right away. Shay was a fierce, independent woman who had let her insecurities and misplaced love lead her down a path a woman like her never imagined. I appreciated this so much because even the most independent of us can find ourselves lost and, through Shay, Siskind shows us that this doesn’t need to define us forever, even when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable once again.
Kolton…what a sexy, amazing hero. An alpha with a sweet romantic side, he’s hard to resist. He’s less resistant to falling in love, but this doesn’t mean he doesn’t have some growing to do and some issues of his own to overcome.
There’s so much to love about My Perfect Mistake. Beginning with skiing in Aspen, which Siskind describes so realistically that I felt every movement. The witty dialogue between Kolton and Shay had me laughing out loud one moment and choking back tears the next. The secondary characters are delightful as Siskind creates a tight group of friends while setting up the next book in the Over the Top series (which I can’t wait to read!).
This is definitely a book I’ll read again. 4.5 Stars. Heat Level: 4
