“Beaten and bruised, Trista Barnes is running out of options, and Jerico is her last chance to get out of the mess she’s in. She doesn’t know why Jerico despises her brother so much, but as long as he can help her, she doesn’t care. Jerico offers her safety while opening her up to a sinful world she never knew existed”
When asked if I want to read a Sawyer Bennett novel, my go-to answer will be yes every time. Admittedly, I’ve only read her hockey romances, but I’ve really enjoyed them. So, when I was offered Wicked Favors, I jumped on it without looking too closely. Imagine my surprise when the hero of the story is the owner of a sex club…
This book was just pure fun with a sweet romance. In the post-Fifty Shades romance novel world, just about anything goes on the road to happily ever after. For this “older” reader, I never thought that public sex between the hero and heroine would be part of that HEA journey, but Bennett does a great job of creating a believable world and characters, especially Trista.
I loved Trista and I loved how Bennett wrote her. Trista is just a regular girl who shows up at the Wicked Horse with no idea how her world is getting ready to change. She enters the story with none of the power in the relationship, but she’s strong and as far from a pushover as one can be. Most importantly, Trista’s introduction to the public sex that goes on at the Wicked Horse is relatable, something that I wasn’t sure was possible for me.
While Trista goes through a sexual awakening in Wicked Favor, it’s Jerico that finds himself battling emotions he long thought buried. As the owner of a sex club, he’s no stranger to the goings on. He’s got a fast and hard rule of never having sex with the same woman twice, but when Trista walks in his door, that changes. It’s Trista’s innocence that becomes his downfall, which is both ironic and logical for a man who masked his pain in a world of hedonism.
There’s no doubt that Wicked Favor is smoking hot. Bennett writes her sex scenes with class and I never felt like I needed to turn my eyes away. More importantly, this is a good story. It would be so easy in a book about a sex club to get lost in the sex. Instead, the author balances the two nicely. While the plot was fairly predictable, it didn’t matter because I was enjoying the characters’ journey.
4 Stars for Wicked Favor. Heat level: 4.5
I received a copy of the book from the InkSlingerPR in exchange for honest feedback.
